Your visit, your choice.

You can use the climate risk atlas without analytics. If you opt in, a few measurements help us improve the maps and understand what visitors find useful.

What we count

With your permission, we count page openings, which climate risks you explore, time while the page is visible, and chatbot questions as numbers. We also record the referring website’s domain and an approximate country supplied by the hosting network.

What we keep private

The analytics database does not store IP addresses, exact locations, full referring links, or chatbot messages. A random cookie lets us estimate unique browsers; it does not identify you by name. Analytics records are kept for up to 400 days.

Change your mind

You can change the setting here at any time. Choosing No thanks stops future analytics and clears the browser identifier. Previously recorded events remain in the dashboard counts until they expire.

Requests for data

When you request a dataset, we store your email address, reason, requested dataset, submission date and review status. Only moderators can view these details. We use them to review your request and contact you about sharing the data. Contact us if you would like your request removed.

YOUR CHOICE

Optional analytics

The atlas works the same whichever option you choose. Allowing analytics helps us understand which maps people explore and improve the site.
